the HMS Belfast was launched in 1938 to do battle in the World War 2 and took part in many major 2nd world war events  including the battle of North Cape and the Normandy landings. The ship then continued in service until 1965 but it was not until 1971 that the ship was turned into a museum. The museum tells the ships story of it's service during world war 2 as well as general exhibits on the Royal Navy.
